A Duke graduate student reported to the Durham Police Department being the victim of a strong-armed robbery around on Monday afternoon on Pettigrew Street near the Center for Documentary Studies.

The suspect is described as a male, medium-dark skin tone, late 20’s, dreadlocks with a black bandana, black hoodie and blue jeans. He did not display a weapon and took the victim’s car.

A watch means conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and close to the watch area.

Man Arrested for Multiple Off-Campus Robberies Near Campus

Durham Police arrested 25-year-old Jaquan Marquise Smith on Friday for a string of home invasions and robberies in apartments near Duke University’s campus.

Two of the incidents involved Duke students and occurred on February 6 and March 2 of this year. In each incident, the victims were forced into their apartment and held at gunpoint while individuals robbed them of phones, electronics, money, and other valuables. None of the victims were injured during the crimes.
