Three students report robbery near East Campus

January 30, 2010

Three Duke students reported being robbed early Saturday at Ninth and Main streets.

One student was shot in the leg with a BB gun but was not seriously injured and treated at the scene, said John Dailey, police chief for the Duke University Police Department.

According to Dailey, the incident occurred at 1 a.m. as the students walked to East Campus from a restaurant. Three men - one with a BB gun, another with a knife - approached the students in the parking lot of Wachovia bank.

The suspects, who left the scene with money from the students, have not been arrested. They were last seen running in the direction of Ninth Street.
